Why you'll love it...

The Mankunku Quartet's 1968 Yakhal' Inkomo is widely hailed as one of the finest South African jazz albums. The album was recorded in July 1968 by Dave Challen and produced by Ray Nkwe. On the album, tenor saxophonist Winston "Mankunku" Ngozi's original compositions are highlighted alongside Horace Silver's "Doodlin" and John Coltrane's "Bessie's Blues." The record features musicians Agrippa Magwaza (bass), Early Mabuza (drums) and Lionel Pillay (piano).

Limited to 1,000 copies, the VMP exclusive edition of Mankuku Quartet's Yakhal' Inkomo is pressed on 180g 1LP Black Smoke vinyl at GZ Vinyl. It will arrive in a single direct-to-board, foil stamped and numbered jacket. The album is mastered at half speed by Miles Showell of Abbey Road Studios.
