VMP Anthology is the vinyl box set, reinvented. It aims to use music to tell a story, and gives space for lots of listening, learning, and conversation along the way.
The Women of Motown
A story told through 8 classic albums from the label's vault, curated by Motown Records & VMP.
On sale through the end of September or until it sells out. Ships (for free in the U.S.) in early October.
Motown as a family, and as a cultural force, has always been fueled by the efforts of many women, as well as founder Berry Gordy’s faith in feminine brains and power.”
A great series unfolds in episodes
...and the best stories are told in chapters. We're reinventing the box set experience, as we spend four weeks exploring this storied label through the music of the women who made it legendary. While the box will ship with all eight albums inside, Episodes Two and Three will housed in secrecy sleeves that can be opened at specific points in our journey.

Why haven’t you revealed the specific albums?
GREAT STORIES UNFOLD IN CHAPTERS.
We created VMP Anthology for people who recognize that every album has a deep story to tell. By revealing the records slowly, we give you space to truly listen and absorb each individual masterpiece, and the opportunity to share your thoughts with others. Can't stand the suspense? Scroll up and click on the record icons to find some clues.
How was the audio sourced?
ONLY THE BEST FOR MOTOWN RECORDS.
All eight albums in this VMP Anthology were remastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, and pressed at QRP on high quality 180g black vinyl. For the first seven albums, Motown pulled the master tapes out of their vaults for an all analog remaster and pressing. For the eighth (most recent) album, we remastered from the highest quality digital source.
Got a question?
Because we’ve all bought box sets and never actually listened to all of the albums. We’re revealing the titles over time to make it easier to slow down and spend time with each record, and truly absorb why Motown and VMP selected these albums to tell the label’s story. And because we think surprises are fun.
